About the Business
Moles are on the increase in the Uk, an estimated 33 million moles nationally. There are several reasons for this, the ban of strychnine in 2006, foot and mouth in 2001 and the UK climate which has helped moles to breed and live better lives. Moles can dig 18 ft per hour, they do this to mainly hunt for their favourite food which is earth worms. They work on a four hourly cycle of sleep and work which means that they can shift up to 72 ft of soil in a cycle. Moles live in a complicated tunnel system underground, they are mainly solitary animals and are very territorial, but they do from time to time come across one another, at mating time February to April depending on the weather and also when looking for new territories. Their territories very often cross each other's paths, and so use each other's boundary tunnels. Mole hills can appear very quickly and can soon get out of control, people only see the damage above ground, imagine the devastation underneath!
